My Art

Coasters.  Most Gel Medium transfers, a few transparancy transfers.  Some with funny sayings like "duck tape is like the force, it has a dark side, a light side and it holds the world together"

Froggy pond.  The quote says " sometimes the best fishing holes are the ones where no one else would think to wander"  The river/water is fabric harden using modge podge and acrylic medium.

Picture of my hipstamatic pictures strung up as if they were developing.

For years, I've had my pictures locked away on a hard drive.  I would print those of the kids that I loved and frame them or ones of family members on request.  Even my scrapbooking pages are sitting on my external drive, not printed.
I've wanted to do something serious with my photography but just couldn't figure out what.
And then I stumbled on a really cool technique called Photo Transfer.
Most, have heard of this in the form of Iron on.  Think of Tshirts and quilts and so on.  But, that is not exactly how I'm going about it.  Nope... I never do anything simple or in the easiest way possible. Where is the fun in that?
I'm I transferring my Photos using Acrylic Medium Gel, laser prints (flipped, reversed images), a brayer and a dozen or so other tools.

This month, I hope to learn how to transfer using Ink Jet Transparencies and acrylic medium.  The Acrylic Medium I was using to do the paper transfer was too heavy.  Perfect for the paper, not so perfect for the delicate ink on the plastic transparency.
Some samples of my work.  All of these are paper transfers using the technique described above.
This box was originally white with a coffee logo on it.  Not any more!  This picture is of one of my Mother in law's roses!

A Butterfly picture on wood.  The wood is painted white so that I didn't lose any detail in the flower or butterfly

Coasters!  I built the coasters up using Gesso to make sure they were nice and smooth then transferred the image, 2 coats of poly and all is lovely!

A birdhouse in my mother's garden, transferred to wood.
This piece too me some time.  Each one of those roses is an extracted piece, then I took it into lightroom and gave it a real vintage feel before making the transfer.  The digital scrapbooking papers used on this piece are from Cilenia Curtis.
A black and white snap shot of two texas flags off the side of one of the local marinas here, with a nice little lake quote all on a metal sign.  just a cute little thing I wanted to see if I could do.
This is one of my Scrap pages turned hybrid.  I took pieces of the page and printed it out to fit the canvas frame, and transferred it.. but only after I painted a bit on the frame.  I'm really enjoying mixing these two medias and am seeing myself doing this way more often, specially to hang in my own home!
This was my first real painting fun time!  The image is a hipstamatic picture.  I painted on the canvas before placing the picture, but got a bit carried away, and after placing the picture it needed to be toned down.  So... out came the paints and I went to town again.  This picture really doesnt show it well, but it turned out pretty cool.  If I was a better artist, I could have carried the green of the lake over, but I'm not.  So instead I just had fun smudging around the edges.
This is the best piece of the whole lot.  It is a utensil caddy and it turned out amazing.  I transferred an image on both sides and the two insides.  It is positively stunning.
This is a scrap page I did for my husband, and I took it and transferred it to the wood.  The quote says "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.  Teach a man to fish and you feed his soul for a life time"
